The Root Chakra Muladhara

Associated with the color orange, the sacral chakra is our center for emotional connection. It is associated with the water element and is located right beneath our navel. It encompasses the womb, testes, bladder, bowels, and large intestine.

It is our center for pleasure as it relates to creativity and expressing one’s emotional body. This includes sexuality, art, and feelings of self-worth. The Svadhistanta when in balance brings us joy and livelihood. It guides us to enjoy ourselves and surrender into authentic expression. 5 Techniques To Heal The Sacral Chakra

1. Abdominal Massage

Massaging the abdomen can begin to clear out and open the sacral. Focus on the lower abdomen although massaging the entire abdomen will promote digestion and elimination.

You can play around with different pressure and touch to find what feels best to you. When we care for our physical body we also care for our emotional body. This correlates directly to letting go emotionally of what no longer serves us.

It also brings in an aspect of caring for the self, which is important for the sacral chakra. Tony Robbins teaches that adjusting your physiology is one way to create an immediate shift in your mental state.

2. Spend Time Around Water

This chakra is a feminine energy center. We all (regardless of gender) have feminine and masculine energy inside us. The sacral connects to the feminine side of us and our intuitive unashamed nature.

Spending time around water can be in the form of a shower, lake, the ocean, or even meditating with a glass of water. Connecting to the water element soothes emotional stress, gets the creativity flowing, and can help one adapt to become more fluid.

3. Get Creative

The sacral chakra thrives with play and creativity. Although any creative adventure you embark on to heal the sacral chakra it is important you create from a place of pure enjoyment and not forced productivity.

It is the emotions of joy and playfulness that begin to heal this chakra. You can get creative and step deeper into the emotions of what you want to manifest by creating a mood board to work with the law of attraction.

4. Affirmations

Working with sacral chakra affirmations repetitively will begin to rewire your subconscious mind to start healing. With this chakra being specifically positioned around our self-worth and self-love, affirmations are especially impactful for this chakra.

Affirming these statements to yourself align your belief systems to be one of a healthy sacral chakra. These will also work to prime you energetically to end and let go of damaging behavior or self-sabotaging patterns more easily.

5. Journaling

Diving into the emotions and beliefs you have surrounding the sacral chakras territory will create healing immediately within the chakra. When we suppress emotions they become stored in the sacral chakra.

Feelings of low-self worth, shame, and repressed sexuality build and block this chakra. Through journal prompts for the sacral chakra you will be able to uncover and process these emotions that may have been causing stagnation.

This technique is a self-discovery and thought inquiry. It is extremely effective when you are ready to put in deep work, be honest, and get vulnerable with yourself. This is a form of shadow work, which you can learn more about here.
