The Law of Dharma is the seventh law from Deepak Chopra’s book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.
Dharma is an Indian word that means the evolutionary pulse of the universe. It also refers to your role within the world. If you think of the universe as one complete whole, of which you are a part, then it follows that you have a specific role, or purpose, that somehow serves the purpose of the universe as a whole.
Your individuation is a unique expression of universal energy, and – no matter who you are or what your experience is – you have a unique gift to offer the world.
So, the first step to living in accordance with The Law of Dharma is to figure out what your unique talents are. What are the things that inspire you? What makes you feel passionate about your life? What are you naturally inclined to do?
Finding this first part can be tricky, because we are often so overcome with ideas and beliefs that are imposed upon us. But, if you can look past all of the things that you feel you should or must do, you can find a spark. This spark is your creative intelligence, guiding you to find your special purpose.
This brings us to the second step, which is to figure out how your talents fit into the universe as a whole. When you identify how your gift fits into the world, you can begin to see how you can express your individual identity in a way that works in harmony with everything and everyone around you, creating a positive impact for all.
Lastly, you have to act on your purpose with passion. Act with complete joy, finding your highest excitement in every action. When you do, you will enter into the flow of life, not worrying about what others may think and losing track of time in the process of pursuing your passion. This is an inspired state of action, and is a natural state that everyone can achieve, every single day.
3 Tips to Live on Purpose
If you want to follow The Law of Dharma and begin to live on purpose with your life, then you can follow these three simple daily actions that work in accordance with the 3 steps discussed above.
- Intend to Remain Conscious. Firstly, set your intention to live the day on purpose, remaining conscious of your own energy and maintaining a connection to the deep spiritual source within you.
- List Your Talents. Next, create a list of your unique talents and passions. As you do, don’t worry about how or why you would do anything on the list. Simply feel into what ideas excite you, and cause you to live from the highest version of yourself.
- Ask “How can I serve?” Lastly, every morning, create an intention to be of service, and, after a brief meditation, open yourself to your purpose by asking how you can apply your individual gifts to the world in a way that has a positive impact. Keep an attitude of being in service to others, and you will not have to worry about how to provide for yourself.
