The Law of Attraction is one of the most seductive and least understood concepts that form part of the immutable laws of the universe.
It tells us that our thoughts create our reality, but how, exactly does this happen?
Popular books and movies would have you think that this idea means you can just sit at home and meditate your way into the perfect life, earning millions of dollars without actually doing much of anything.
The reality is quite different. In this post we’ll take a look at how The Law of Attraction actually works, what it is, and how you can use it to achieve just about anything you want.
What Is The Law of Attraction? Is It Real?
Before we can get into how you can use the Law of Attraction (LOA for short) in your daily life, we need to be clear on what, exactly, it is.
Basically, LOA is a law of momentum and corresponding energy. It can be simplified with the idea that you get what you give, which can be applied to everything from business success to spiritual karma.
The Law of Attraction doesn’t mean you can sit at home, do nothing, and earn millions of dollars by thinking about how much money you want. That’s a gross misrepresentation, but unfortunately that’s how many pop-culture writings treat LOA.
In order to understand LOA, you need to recognize that we live in a vibrational universe. Everything you experience is energy, and you are constantly emitting vibrations. Every thought you think, every word you speak, and every action you take emits a vibration. If you’d like, you can think of your vibration in terms of a general mood, belief, or feeling you hold.
The Law of Attraction then tells us that you will attract to you other experiences and circumstances that match your energy.
It’s a law of inertia. When you’re in a good mood, you tend to notice more positive aspects of the world around you, and will likely stay in a good mood. The reverse is also true: when you’re in a bad mood, you see negatives all around you, and your mood will likely worsen.
How To Use The Law of Attraction
If you understand that you are fundamentally a state of vibration, and that your vibration then draws to it other experiences in the same range, using the Law of Attraction becomes quite simple.
Engaging with LOA is a process of learning to manage your vibration.
Your mood is the best representation of this vibration. So, simply put: get happy and let the universe take care of everything else.
When you feel better, you raise your energy, experience more joy, and have a more prosperous and fulfilling life.
Another way to think about how to use The Law of Attraction is to start paying attention to where you place your focus. The more you focus on the positive aspects of any situation, and focus on the possibilities that are before you, the more likely you will be to align with the vibration of your desires, and attract those desires to you quickly and effortlessly.
Focus on what you really want, learn to feel good about it, and the results will manifest before you.
While this process is extraordinarily simple, learning to work with it in more depth can be a process. We offer a number of coaching and course options that can help you learn how to manage the Law of Attraction and manifest the life you want.
Does The LOA Really Work? Myths and Misunderstandings
One of the biggest drawbacks of LOA is that it sounds too good to be true.
Unfortunately, many people hear about how The Law of Attraction works, and try thinking positive thoughts for a day or a week, only to give up when they haven’t achieved their goals.
I think one of the biggest problems with LOA is the way it is often presented as an almost magical, miracle cure to any problem.
Popular legends and many law of attraction books would have you believe that you can think a few positive thoughts and magically manifest anything you want, with no effort on your part.
This portrait is only partially true. While your thoughts are an essential point of your vibration to learn how to manage, they are only one aspect. These pop-science systems often ignore the fact that (most people) do not truly believe their thoughts create the world around them. Thus, their sporadic positive thoughts aren’t enough to overcome their more dominant vibration, which holds a “realistic” view that money, romance, or good health doesn’t just magically appear.
The reality is that LOA is a real phenomenon, and is based soundly in contemporary understandings of consciousness and physics, but only if you dig into the details of how you can work with it deliberately.
