Our Favorite Neale Donald Walsch Quotes

These quotes are taken from the series Conversations With God and will open your mind and heart if you let them:

Enlightenment is understanding that there is nowhere to go, nothing to do, and nobody you have to be except exactly who you’re being right now

Ram Dass talked about this as well when he spoke on the idea that you have to deny your humanity to be spiritual but instead, spirituality encompasses the humanity because we are having a human experience and we can find acceptance in it.

All human actions are motivated at their deepest level by two emotions–fear or love. In truth there are only two emotions–only two words in the language of the soul…. Fear wraps our bodies in clothing, love allows us to stand naked. Fear clings to and clutches all that we have, love gives all that we have away. Fear holds close, love holds dear. Fear grasps, love lets go. Fear rankles, love soothes. Fear attacks, love amends.

Meditation is the language of love as it involves seeing through fear, anxiety, and separateness beyond to interconnectedness and unshakable peace.

This is what your religions mean when they say that you were created in the ‘image and likeness of God’ … Our essence is the same. We are composed of the same stuff. We ARE the ‘same stuff’! With all the same properties and abilities – including the ability to create physical reality out of thin air

This is what many others call the law of attraction and it explains how we are naturally creators of our own reality. How can it not be true when we are made up of the same substance as life itself?

Inquire within, rather than without, asking:
“What part of my Self do I wish to experience now?
What aspects of being do I choose to call forth?”
For all of life exists as a tool of your own creation,
and all of its events merely present themselves as opportunities for you to decide, and be, Who You Are.

Self-inquiry is the most effective tool to resort to when you are struggling, ready to make a change, or find yourself feeling lost. Going inside yourself to uncover what is going on inside you will make everything else in your life clear.

Journaling is a powerful tool to form self-inquiry with, check out our journal prompts for the chakras here starting with the heart chakra.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

This is a great quote to remember when you are feeling yourself at the end of your comfort zone. This may inspire or remind you of the greatness that lies on the other side.

The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek therefore, not to find out Who You Are, but seek to determine Who You Want to Be.

Practicing visualization exercises will help you create the you that you want to experience. This can even be making a mood board to get more specific on what you want to experience.

You are afraid to die, and you’re afraid to live. What a way to exist

This is the same thing as the quote “get busy living or get busy dying” from The Shawshank Redemption. The essence is to get out of the limbo of a comfort zone and to push past the fears that are holding you to the safety of not living.

There are no victims in the universe, only creators.

This dissolves the victim mentality that many people easily slip into out of fear. Click here to learn about the different kind of mindsets there are.

There is no truth except the truth that exists within you. Everything else is what someone is telling you

This is why it is so important to listen to your own inner voice. Trusting yourself and building that deep relationship with yourself will change your life.

For you are the creator of your reality, and life can show up no other way for you than that way in which you think it will.

Your beliefs are what dictate your reality and that is something both Deepak Chopra and Neville Goddard teach in-depth.

What you resist persists. What you look at disappears

This is similar to the basis of shadow work where you confront your inner dark places. This is because where you are resistant to look, to go, to acknowledge will play a more dominant role in your subconscious, therefore impacting your actions deeply.

Your soul doesn’t care what you do for a living – and when your life is over, neither will you. Your soul cares only about what you are being while you are doing whatever you are doing

This is why Shawn Achor teaches what is called the happiness advantage. Instead of pushing off being happy till after you complete certain goals your brain functions better if you chose to be present and happy now.

Know and understand that there will be challenges and difficult times. Don’t try to avoid them. Welcome them. Gratefully… Seek to see no one, and nothing, as the enemy – or even the problem. Cultivate the technique of seeing all problems as opportunities. Opportunities to be, and decide, Who You Really Are.

We can grow the most deeply and create lasting transformations due to difficult circumstances. Life is happening for you and not to you as challenges are blessings to be opened later.

The true renunciate does not renounce, but simply chooses differently. This is an act of moving towards something, not away from something

By focusing on how much you do not want something, you cultivate deeper feelings for not wanting it which attracts more of that rather than attracting what you do want. Therefore, place your focus on what oyu want to move towards and it will happen more swiftly.

Affirmations do not work if they are merely statements of what you want to be true. Affirmations work only when they are statements of something you already know to be true.

You need to feel it to believe it. Neale suggests starting off where you can claim something as true. For example, use I am on the path to success and success is coming directly into my life if I am successful feels like a lie.
