Color Therapy: Healing Through Colors

Chromotherapy, or color therapy, is a holistic healing treatment. Each color is a light of varying wavelengths and has its own unique effect on the body as well as the mood.

Through research, scientists have been able to determine the brain processes images after they are gathered through the lens of the eye. This affects the brain waves, autonomic nervous system, and hormonal activity.

Ancient Techniques

Color therapy dates back to ancient practices that have been found within ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, and India. The first documented sort of color healing was found in Heliopolis, city of the sun, in Greece.

Similar healing rooms existed within ancient Egypt were performed within pyramids using sunlight guided through colored gemstones. People were designated to a colored room depending on their particular ailment where they would then bathe in this colored light.

Benefits

Color healing is using the electrical impulses stimulated in the brain when we are exposed to color to create either a calming or stimulated healing effect. Each chakra is associated with its own color. Chromotherapy is another way to bring healing into the chakras and maybe a way to pinpoint what chakras may be blocked by the resistance or attraction to a certain color.

Root Chakra

The Root Chakra is associated with the color red. This color is stimulating, it increases circulation, creates grounding, and empowers one to take action.

Sacral Chakra

The Sacral Chakra is associated with the color orange. Orange chemotherapy will use a mix of red and yellow light.

This color creates optimism, enhances creativity, and confidence. Buddhist monks also wear this color to aid in raising their vibrational frequency to a higher state

Solar Plexus

The Solar Plexus Chakra is associated with the color yellow. Yellow simulates feeling secure and confident, taking action, intelligence, and feeling more joyful. It aids in digestion, detoxification, and increases neuromuscular tone.

Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra is associated with the color green. Green is a calming color, it soothes the nervous system, reduces swelling in joints, boosts immune system, and strengthens muscles.

Green is extremely balancing and will inspire serenity, adaptability, and pure acceptance.

Throat Chakra

The Throat Chakra is associated with the color blue. Blue is a cooling color that reduces blood pressure, calms the nervous system, and supports deep sleep. Blue relieves headaches, migraines, balances body temperature, and helps one own their truth.

Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra is associated with the color indigo. Indigo strengthens our intuition, produces peace, stimulates the eyes and ears, soothes the intellectual mind, and can create a deep meditative state.

Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra is associated with the color purple. Purple helps you fall asleep, find deep relaxation, balances the lymphatic system, redirects and balances an overactive sex drive, and brings ease to emotional wounds.
