For your positive thoughts to thrive bring yourself into an environment where they can! Our environment directly impacts our state of mind and capacity to grow. This brings a quote to mind:

This goes to explain that if your environment is toxic it may make it harder for you to grow positive thoughts. Even if you are able to remain positive around negative people you do have to work harder against the resistance.
