Our thinking offers us a lens to view life out of. When we are able to cultivate positive thinking and positive perspectives we can find more enjoyment from the world. We can also attract more fulfilling and positive manifestations towards us through the law of attraction.
Positive Thinking Techniques
These techniques can help you adopt an optimistic perspective as well as reprogram negative thought patterns. Through beginning this journey to create positive thinking you will begin to feel empowered as well as learn how to work with your own mind.
Don’t Believe Everything You Think
When you notice you are feeling emotions you do not want to feel notice what thoughts you are currently thinking. Immediately you may become aware of negative thoughts swirling around in your head, although this may seem contradictory to your emotional state.
Byron Katie, the author of Loving What Is, explains this best: “I discovered that when I believed my thoughts, I suffered, but that when I didn’t believe them, I didn’t suffer, and that this is true for every human being. Freedom is as simple as that. I found that suffering is optional.”
By creating inquiry around your thoughts you begin to take the first step back from believing them and identifying with them. This begins to break the cycle of negative think and is a key ingredient in reprogramming your thoughts to positive.
Empty The Endless Chatter
Habitual and busy thinking is a characteristic of the monkey mind, the part of our mind ruling our most basic desires, needs, and fears. It includes our emotional center and what motivates our immediate gratification.
When our head is filled with busy chatter and ringing emotional impulses that urge us towards our next sensory enjoyment it can be hard to reign in control after it been running wild. This is partially why meditation is incredibly important to maximize our joy.
Meditation teaches us how to remain objective to sensation, thoughts, and perspectives during our practice. This skillset then can be transferred outside of the practice to remaining objective through negative thoughts and allowing them to leave without amplifying them or attaching to them.
You can begin practicing this by enjoying this guided meditation to still the mind.
It is very likely you have heard of these before, affirmations. You may or may not know the basic and powerful potency they hold. Often times it feels easy to overlook the basic techniques, but they are basic for a reason.
When working with affirmations there is no need to strive for someone else’s verbal validation. You affirm your own worth, the reality you desire, beauty, or skillset to your self. This is practiced even if it isn’t something you fully believe.
Positive affirmations are one of the quickest ways to create positive thoughts. Although there are many ways to shift your thoughts from negative to positive. Affirmations work through repetition to begin rewiring your subconscious thoughts.
Here is a list of affirmations you can begin working with:

Quick Mind Shifts
To begin reprogramming the mind to produce positive thoughts naturally and consistently it takes consistent dedication on your part. This means that when negative thoughts arise, negative self-talk starts, and your inner voice turns into a critic quick techniques to shift your mental state will be incredibly helpful.
You can begin to immediately create a shift within your thinking by these easy and immediate techniques:
- Shift your focus
- Change your external environment (even for one minute)
- Move your body
- Practice mindfulness
- If you are ready for a quick, but more time-consuming technique you can follow this guided meditation from Bob Proctor
Using these quick shifts is not just something for those first beginning to train their thoughts to be positive, but it also includes those that have been working with achieving an abundance mindset as well.
Befriend Your Subconscious
To fully integrate all the work you are doing to think positively it is important to get into the roots of your negative thoughts. This helps you understand why they are circulating as well as take the power out of them.
Shadow work is a term coined by Jungian psychology referring to the unconscious aspects of the human nature. This can be viewed as what is behind the conscious ego and is the unknown or dark side.
When performing shadow work you begin to uncover the parts of you that are driven off of emotional impulse. You can begin to bring these to your conscious mind which then causes the unconscious drive to be less impulsive or shocking as you are already aware of it.
This helps to disable negative thinking patterns and to become fully aware of personal tendencies. You can begin exploring your subconscious and shadow self by using journal prompts and allowing yourself to get fully honest.

Create A Nourishing Environment
For your positive thoughts to thrive bring yourself into an environment where they can! Our environment directly impacts our state of mind and capacity to grow. This brings a quote to mind:
“When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.”Alexander Den Heije
This goes to explain that if your environment is toxic it may make it harder for you to grow positive thoughts. Even if you are able to remain positive around negative people you do have to work harder against the resistance.
By choosing an environment that pulls more positivity out of you, you may find your momentum of positive thinking is simply increased. This includes loving people as well as the media you consume.
If you just finished watching a violent tv show you may find it harder to shift into compassionate self-dialogue. This, of course, does not mean you need to only watch children’s movies, but that instead you check-in with what you are focusing on to see if itis fully the right decision for you.
